Dr. Childs promoted to Rear Admiral September 29, 2015
Dr. Richard Childs has been promoted to Rear Admiral in the US Public Health Service. As a senior ranking one-star flag officer in the Commissioned Corps, he will also carry the title of Assistant Surgeon General. Dr. Childs is cited for providing the highest caliber of public health leadership.
Dr. Childs recently served as the Chief Medical Officer for the Monrovia Medical Unit (Ebola Response Team 2) in Liberia. He is currently the Clinical Director of the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Division of Intramural Research, at the National Institutes of Health, and a senior investigator in the Laboratory of Transplantation Immunotherapy.
